Alistair served as an Infantry Officer in the New Zealand Army for over a decade, which included active duty tours to East Timor and Afghanistan.
Whilst taking a break from Army life, Alistair became quickly absorbed in Yoga and Meditation practices. This started an incredible journey of self-inquiry that eventually led him to become a Yoga Teacher and started teaching other Veterans, First Responders (police, firefighters, prison officers) and their families, which included assisting in the treatment of those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Having completed his 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Kawai Purapura in New Zealand as well as Trauma-Conscious Yoga, Mindful Resilience, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindful Yoga Therapy (MYT) and VETOGA trainings in the United States, Alistair is extremely passionate about sharing these life-changing practices with others (in particular Veterans, First Responders and their families).
In recent years, Alistair has also become heavily involved in guiding Men's Gatherings. These gatherings provide a platform for men to support eachother through challenging life circumstances as well as cultivating a greater sense of their own genuine masculinity. Men who desire more information about this material can join the Genuine Masculinity discussion forum.
Alistair’s classes, retreats and workshops are designed to be accessible to everyone regardless of experience level or physical ability. His aim is to generate an open and inclusive space where people feel comfortable to explore all facets of themselves. Encouraging everyone to experience for themselves the transformational power of these ancient practices as well as providing practical tools that can be taken away and used in everyday life.
Currently residing between New Zealand and the United States, for more information about Alistair and his services, please contact him directly.
